at this instant

I love:
Matisyahu.
Summer.
Listening to reggae and sunny days.
Kaizers Orchestra.
Sleeping in class and dreaming that I:
Walked into the school bathroom and saw myself and said "Hey! It's you!"
Being out of doors.
Peace Corps excitement.

la promenade

More/better pictures will come later, right now I am feeling the lack of sleep gotten last night. It was nice to see everyone dressed up and fancy. We danced and ate popsicles and rubbed our aching feet. The weather has turned cold and snowy, but I can't help but feel springish and happy.

the order of the afternoon

Hike. In which I fall many times into snow and mud and thorny bushes, come away with splinters and scrapes and wet shoes and a sore butt and cannot be bothered because it was so beautiful. I was wearing a tank top and it was warm. I can feel old wintery skin shaken off as car windows get rolled down and sunbeams warm faces again.

Vegan Pizza. In which I am so excited to get another piece, I break my favorite plate.

In other news, school is shockingly close to ending.
-My new favorite music-maker is She and Him.
-It is so nice outside! Getting up in the morning is so easy because it is light outside.
-I have been doing a lot of reading of authors that I like, Virginia Woolf, Kurt Vonnegut, Joan Didion, Elizabeth Gilbert, and loving Beatrix Potter much as ever. All of these writers ignite a fire in my belly for writing, and help me not condemn that dream with thoughts like "Oh, there are so many writers in the world already, I would be wasting my time." Because there's another voice that says back "But this is what I looove."

feeling drawn out.

Like butter scraped over too much bread.

Lovely dressing room. And a new red dress.

Lately:
Food Not Bombs on Saturday was really successful. Made lots of new acquaintances and spread the word (and burritos).
Yoga = everything that is wonderful rolled into hour-long classes. Learned Crow and Crane tonight. Words cannot express how good it feels.
I made granola, that was a while ago. But its still good.
I am very inspired by the essay's we have been reading in English, especially Annie Dillard's pieces. It's just so...perfect. The words put together so wonderfully. I would like to someday do that so impressively.

blast from the past

This is Jamie and Robin, in all of our fifth-grader glory.

Today has been filled with writing, 2 essays to do by tomorrow. I'm only now finishing up with the first, and it's 6 already! Our world is once again blanketed in snow, which throws off all the feelings of spring I've been having. It's made the light very white and bright, which feels good coming in our windows. I've been taking breaks from writing to look through the domino magazine that just came in the mail, and having a good time getting excited about going to Europe in less than 2 months!
